My Authentic Code

I’m currently participating in a manifestation challenge with To Be Magnetic and one of the exercises we engage in to get clear on our authentic self is choosing words from a list that resonate with our current life and how we want to feel. After gathering many words, grouping words together into buckets and distilling down those words, here are my words: Joy, Confidence, Ease and Self Care.

These words are the essence of what I want in my life currently. Let me tell you why:

1.Joy. This is a way in which I live my life despite any of the chaos that goes on around me. I always try to reach for those glimmers of joy regardless of what I am experiencing at the moment. This has been my life raft in recent years and it wasn’t until I hit some rock bottoms that I learned to shift my mindset to joy. Granted, I am very privileged to be able to create this joy in my life but I hope that no matter where I am in, I can always find those pockets of joy to hang on to.

Some of the things that bring me the utmost joy: Spending quality time with my daughter, playing games, watching her learn and experience things for the first time, traveling to places I’ve always dreamed about and conversations with friends around good food, music and ambience.

2. Confidence. This is something I have struggled with on and off throughout my life. In doing this exercise, I realized I was very confident as a child. I played sports, I led clubs, joined storytelling contests and really engaged in my community. Through some pain and programming, this strong young girl started to fade away. Like many, I get caught up in the comparison game which makes me feel less than, when in actuality i’m creating a life I absolutely love and I’m trusting that my abilities and experiences have led me to a place of CONFIDENCE where I can now instill it in the women I work with. One of my goals is to build a confidence camp for girls and start this early in adolescence so that young girls build their confidence muscle to take into their everyday and throughout their adult lives.

Confidence to me is showing up as yourself without the fear of how others will perceive you. It’s learning to recreate yourself and evolve as much as you need to to feel awesome inside and out. This absolutely ebbs and flows, but at the end of the day you feel good about the person you are and who you’re becoming. This is something that I need to embody now more than ever as I build my business and my legacy that will live on way beyond my lifetime. I know if I don’t embody confidence, I cannot manifest my dream life.

3. Ease. This is something I truly treasure in my life. I no longer force things to happen; I simply set the intentions I desire and take the aligned action to attract what is already mine. I don’t want to oversimplify this, but surrendering to what is and cultivating contentment about the work I do has been the common denominator among the things that have already come through for me.  Ease is something I teach in my SELF course through finding out what it is you really want and doing the things you love. I no longer make excuses for why I can’t do something. If it is not aligned I just don’t engage with it.

Here are some mantras I created for cultivating more ease in my life:

Abundance comes to me with ease.

I don’t force anything.

I am in alignment with my passions.

4. Finally, Self-care. I have gotten so much better at this over the past year. This looks different for everybody. For me, it means rest, rituals, luxuriating in physical, spiritual and emotional practices and investing money into what makes me feel good. This is also creating spaces in my home that allow me to relax and focus on myself. The most important thing to remember is that self-care is not selfish. It is imperative to tend to one's own needs, so that we have more capacity to give love and care to others.

Some of my favorite self-care practices as of late are journaling, cycle syncing and taking care of my physical health in a new way by going to acupuncture, taking supplements and learning more about healthy tips for longevity. I love aromatherapy - some of my favorite candles, fragrances and shampoos make life feel a little bit more luxurious. I cherish moments with my tea in hand, taking walks and getting facials. This is something that is a luxury to me and I am no longer going to skimp on my self-care! However, as you can see from my list, many of my self-care rituals are completely free!

As I focus on my 4 words and how they lead to creating my dream life, I am reminded of just how abundant I already am. By engaging in this exercise I have created the foundation for how I live my life daily. When something throws me off, I'm able to come back to these words and remember why I am here and what I desire.
